Between Leaders and rulers

No president or elections in the Koran. But, certainly, does not mean that the Koran does not set it. In the context of our politics, for example, the president said in the Koran called the two words that mean the same, but substantially different meaning. Two said it was the caliph and imam. In the Indonesian language, the meaning of both words is the same: the leader or ruler. But substantially, its meaning is different. The word stems from the word khalafa caliph. That is, refers to someone who is 'behind'. That is why the caliph interpreted as someone who replaces an existing character 'in front' (predecessor).
While the priest is the one who says there is 'in front.' This word is often interpreted as a role model: leading in all the good behavior, manners, admirable, virtuous, wise, humble, and most importantly the faith and piety. The word caliph was divided again in the singular and plural. In the singular, for example, can be found in al-Baqara, verse 30:''Remember when thy Lord said to the angels, 'Verily I am about to make a caliph in the earth'.''In the plural, khalaif, called four times in the Qur'an , and the Righteous is called three times. Said the priest in the Koran called seven times, and in particular, the meaning and context are not the same. This paper refers to the priest as a majestic figure, figures all figures are used as the model of his descendants and all mankind, that the Prophet Abraham.
''Behold, I will make you (Abraham) priest for the whole human being.''(Surah 2: 124). Ibrahim became the leader (imam) directly from God, not through the process of deliberation (democracy or elections). Similarly, the Prophet Muhammad, who, like Abraham, can actually play the role of the ruler with the power immense, but prefer to be 'leaders' course. In the political context, it is simple, it can be president and leader of the ruling normally is king. However, not a president who played a role as a ruler. In fact, the sole ruler whose power can not be controlled by the people. Leaders and rulers that the two positions, two types, the two often contradictory mandate.
According to a simple interpretation Emha Ainun Nadjib, manage power himself ruler over many people, while the leaders manage love and penyejahteraan system. But in general, KH Azhar Bashir and Prof. Dr. Quraish Shihab concluded: The Qur'an calls the leader (Caliph) is,''The people who, if We be confirmed their position on earth, they will establish prayer and practice regular charity, sent to do a ma 'ruf (good) and prevent evil deeds.''(Al-Hajj: 41). The meaning of a piece of verse was once widespread, involving the obligation to establish a relationship to God, with society, the universe, do good, forbid the evil - well according to religious, social, political, or cultural. True, a leader like this that we should choose to lead the country and this nation. (EH mammal)
